El Pentateuco Continues

We are continuing to offer our course on the Pentateuch this evening into our 3rd week of teaching here at Instituto Biblico Juarez.  Here is the first chapter  Book of the Bible - the book of beginnings - Genesis in both Spanish and English.

11 Y dijo Dios: «¡Que haya vegetación sobre la tierra;
    que ésta produzca hierbas que den semilla,
    que separen el día de la noche;
«Sean fructíferos y multiplíquense;
    llenen las aguas de los mares.
    ¡Que las aves se multipliquen sobre la tierra!»
23 Y vino la noche, y llegó la mañana:
    ése fue el quinto día.
24 Y dijo Dios: «¡Que produzca la tierra seres vivientes:
    animales domésticos, animales salvajes,
    y reptiles, según su especie!»
Y sucedió así. 25 Dios hizo los animales domésticos,
    los animales salvajes, y todos los reptiles,
    según su especie.
Y Dios consideró que esto era bueno,
26     y dijo: «Hagamos al *ser humano
    a nuestra imagen y semejanza.
    y sobre las aves del cielo;
sobre los animales domésticos,
    sobre los animales salvajes,[b]
y sobre todos los reptiles
    que se arrastran por el suelo.»
27 Y Dios creó al ser humano a su imagen;
    lo creó a imagen de Dios.
*Hombre y mujer los creó,
28     y los bendijo con estas palabras:
«Sean fructíferos y multiplíquense;
    llenen la tierra y sométanla;
    todas las plantas que producen semilla
y todos los árboles que dan fruto con semilla;
    todo esto les servirá de alimento.
30 Y doy la hierba verde como alimento
    a todas las fieras de la tierra,
a todas las aves del cielo
    y a todos los seres vivientes
    que se arrastran por la tierra.»
Y así sucedió. 31 Dios miró todo lo que había hecho,
    y consideró que era muy bueno.
Y vino la noche, y llegó la mañana:
    ése fue el sexto día.

Genesis 1

New International Version (NIV)

The Beginning

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.
And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.
11 Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.
14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.
20 And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” 23 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.
24 And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created mankind in his own image,
    in the image of God he created them;
    male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.
29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.

A Few Thoughts Re: The Book of Romans

The apostle Paul wrote the Book of Romans to primarily gentile believers who were in Rome around 57 AD.  This "book" was actually a letter he wrote  as a 2nd choice of him actually going there in person.  That is what he greatly desired to do at that time but was prevented, by God, at least for that time being.

This should give us something to think about.  If we are truly allowing the Lord to direct our steps as his disciples then we need to exercise a little patience sometimes.  Perhaps the Lord's timing is not our own sometimes and He has a better time and a better plan than we do.  Not getting ahead of the Lord is a good thing.

Because Paul was obedient to the impressions in his spirit that he was receiving from the Lord he did not go personally at that time but chose to instead, write a letter.  And because of that timely decision on Paul's part today we have his Book of Romans (Epistle or Letter to the Romans).

And what a blessing that is to have; to be able to read what Paul knew and understood about our Christian faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Next time you read this book and are blessed by a particular passage or scripture verse from Romans remind yourself to thank God for giving Paul the wisdom to wait and "write the letter first instead."  God's ways are not our ways - they are higher.

Paul had several other reasons for writing Romans, primarily; to introduce himself to them first of all, to enlist their support and help in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ ( Christ is not Jesus' last name by the way - it is a title, which means; The Anointed One).

He also wanted to develop and defend the Truth of the Gospel that he had been preaching.  Others were around even in his day altering the pure gospel of Christ.

He also wanted to encourage the Roman believers to rely solely on God's grace for their salvation.

The Book of Romans is a gold mine of truth for the believer in Christ.  Why not take some time today to allow God to encourage you regarding your relationship with Him based on what He has already done for you in His finished work on the cross on your behalf.

Libros Romanos

Libros Romanos ( The Book of Romans )  resumes this coming Monday as I present another two hour class.  I will be teaching with my interpreter at my side repeating everything I say into the native language of our students "Spanish."  During the class I present Rev. Paul Johannson's (former President of Elim Bible Institute in Lima, NY) teaching via DVD.  His is a one hour presentation and is also bi-lingual in presentation.  His course has a co-lateral book titled "Free by Divine Decree."  It is a ten week DVD course that we are pleased to offer our students here.

Here is a photo of Rev. Paul communicating in abstensia via DVD to students he will never meet in person.  The wonders of the age in which we live.  The Lord Jesus said, "Go and make disciples..."
